Vie ed interni

Fondazione 3M is once again opening its photographic archives with the exhibition Vie ed interni (Streets and Interiors) by Virgilio Carnisio, at AIM (Associazione Interessi Metropolitani) in Via San Vincenzo 13 in Milan.

In the elegant black and white of the photographs on display, the Milan of railing houses and courtyards comes back to life, a real world made up of hanging laundry, children's games, quick letter carrier's passages, parked lambrettas, radios that broadcast songs and invade the shared space through the open windows.

It is thanks to Carnisio's curious and inquisitive gaze that we can admire the city of the old artisan stores, of the knife-grinders who used a corner of the street as a workshop, of the taverns with bowls, of the suburban bars and the dairies of the historical center.

A city, Milan, that Carnisio knew how to capture in its best details, such as winding alleys and hidden courtyards - living corners that he photographed to preserve the memory.
