For the "design week", the VALENTINI & MACCACARO gallery try to join ideally his spaces in Milan and in Verona through the exhibition of two events that have the common desire to arouse a reflection on the movements that link together Tradition, Crafts, Antique Trade, Art, Design. In Milano, in Corso Magenta, the protagonist of the exhibition is“VASO”: 10 ancient Chinese pottery of neolithic period will be juxtaposed with works by the Japanese Oki Izumi.
Her work takes place exclusively using industrial glass plates. In her work we see the formal research on the subject matter "vase" becoming gradually more and more conceptual. From a faithful representation of recognizable boundaries, which report to a known object, Oki pushes hes research till where it exhausts the practical function of the object, which thus becomes pure form. The works of Oki, the private utilitarian constraint, become pure artistic expression.
