Masterly 2017 edition has a lot to live up to: expectations are running high with ambitions to match. Inevitably, after such a successful first edition, the Dutch Pavilion looks forward, thinks of how to evolve and where to set its standards.

WHAT STAYS THE SAME

Nicole Uniquole, the Dutch curator and initiator of Masterly, returns to Palazzo Francesco Turati with the exhibition in the historical rooms on the first floor, where the works of 33 Dutch designers will enter into a fresh dialogue with 3 Dutch 17th century paintings.

...WHAT IS NEW AT THE DUTCH PAVILION

In 2017, the Netherlands is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Dutch artistic movement called De Stijl. The exhibition ‘Mondriaan to Dutch design’, premiering in a new area acquired by Masterly at the ground floor of the Palazzo, will feature the works of 14 designers inspired by the Dutch master Piet Mondriaan. Masterly 2017 attention also turns towards the social issues that recent global transformations are bringing to our lives. This has motivated the Dutch Pavilion to host a special project, where design shows the role it plays in a new area of investigation and research. In addition to these exhibitions, Masterly 2017 Edition welcomes more and larger solo presentations. The new faces are several of the most important players in the Dutch Design industry. Companies like Royal Ahrend, Brand Van Egmond, Gelderland, Room of Origins, Desso, Leolux, De Ploeg, impressed with last year ́s event, could not afford to miss out. Some of these newsworthy presentations bear the signature of Dutch designers such as Scholten & Baijings and Edward Van Vliet.

DUTCH HOSPITALITY AT PALAZZO GRAND COURTYARD

The Palazzo Francesco Turati courtyard will be transformed into a Design Lounge & Wi-Fi area, again characterized by that Dutch hospitality spirit which magically welcomed the visitors last year. Don’t worry, there will be tulips too! A token of gratitude that Nicole Uniquole always extends to the venues of her exhibitions. Last but not least, the stunning roof terrace will be transformed into a chill out area where to enjoy the amazing Milan skyline. This oasis of peace and beauty, only 200mts from the Duomo, will be the perfect start of your Milanese experience. Masterly - the Dutch Design Anno 2017 arrives in Milan for the second time.
