About

Galleria Rubin was founded in 1997 in Milan by James Rubin and Christian Marinotti, who both have consolidated backgrounds in the art world. James’ father, Lawrence, was one of the outstanding art dealers in New York from the early 1960s until the end of the 1990s.

Christian’s father, Paolo, on the other hand, was a prominent art collector and promoter of various initiatives concerning contemporary art at Palazzo Grassi in Venice. The gallery is currently run by three partners, James Rubin, Pierre André Podbielski and Paolo Galli; Christian Marinotti is a consultant.

Galleria Rubin focuses primarily on contemporary Italian and international painters and sculptors with a view to highlighting artistic techniques of excellence and exalting the intrinsic manual value of creating art in a contemporary context. In doing so, the gallery strives to achieve a careful balance of tradition (genius loci) and innovation. Another aim of the gallery is to launch, in exclusive representation, young Italian talents, whether in Italy or abroad, by participation in fairs and joint ventures with other international galleries. Galleria Rubin also dedicates energy and resources to organizing shows in Italy of international painters and sculptors, both young and established. Another of the gallery’s activities is to develop, together with its collectors and public and private institutions, projects for site-specific and commissioned works.
