About

Restorer – specialized in ceramic conservation and restoration – Born in Sciacca, a Sicilian ancient centre for the production of ceramics. Got her education and training in Faenza. Lives and works in Milan where she set up her own business in 2003. Specialized in conservation and restoration on terracotta, majolica, porcelain, biscuit porcelain, earthenware and enamels, showing a particular affection for Maissen early artistic production and Fausto Melotti works of art. After completing her studies at the historical “Istituto G.Ballardini” in Faenza, she experienced several co-operations with renowned restoration laboratories and attended many specialization and refresher courses on ceramic restoration. She gains her professional competence during her internship at the studio of the faentine restorer Anna Grossi. Her approach to restoration stands out for meticulous and respectful retouches, attention to details and accuracy of reconstructions. Hence, her constant interest in new materials and innovative techniques to be applied for conservation and restoration purposes together with a genuine passion for ceramic art history and its executive techniques. During her training she first specializes in Italian Renaissance Majolica, than in XVIII cent. European Ceramics production and XX cent. Ceramics works of art. Among her most relevant commissions in co-operation with the faentine Grossi Studio: Viadana (Mantua) – Deposition, terracotta XV cent. ( on Mantegna drawings). Intervention carried out following innovative criteria and using experimental materials. In co-operation with Faenza CNR (National Research Council). Dinner services from the Quirinale collections. P. Virgilio Studio – restoration of several works of art (Baj, Crippa, Dorazio, Fiume, Lucio Fontana, Malevich, Mazzolani, Giò Ponti, Medardo Rosso) and co-operations with “Fondazione Fausto Melotti”, The Department for National Heritage and Cultural Activity, FAI . Among the Studio's clients we find mainly private collectors, antique dealers, Auction Houses and Galleries but the Studio also undertakes commissions from Public Foundations and Museums.
