Located in the historical centre of Milan, in Via Sant'Agnese 18, the gallery's work has always been directed towards the historical European avant-garde movements of the second half of the 20th century and the artists who generated them.

A permanent selection of artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Sam Francis, A.R.Penck, Hans Hartung, Asger Jorn, Josè de Guimaraes, Bengt Lindstrom, Mimmo Rotella, Niky de Saint Phalle, Eduardo Arroyo, Arman, Peter Klasen, Andrè Nagel, Sebastian Matta, Antonì Clavè, Hugo Marin. These artists are permanently present in the Foto Gallery artista and for some of them, such as Bengt Lindstrom and Sam Francis, the Foto Gallery artista San Carlo has the exclusive rights for the Italian market, working directly with their respective Foundations. Special attention is given to the Co.Br.A group: Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Corneille, Asger Jorn and Serge Vandercam.
Galleria San Carlo has always collaborated with major European galleries in Spain, Holland, France, Belgium and Germany. Recently, a close collaboration has been established with Korea.
It also collaborates with museums and public institutions for the organisation of exhibitions in public spaces of the artists with whom it works.
In January 2006 the Contemporary section of the gallery, NEW CONTEMPORARY, was inaugurated, which exhibits contemporary artists of international renown and promotes young artists on the Italian and international market, also abroad.
