Annabel Karim Kassar

For 5VIE Design Week, French-Lebanese architect and designer Annabel Karim Kassar will combine Middle Eastern accents and her distinctive handling of texture and pattern to create a colourful salon of bespoke furniture, lighting and designs.


Mixing a palette of vibrant yellows and pinks, ornamentation, contrasting textures, materials and finely tuned lighting coalesce, reflecting Kassar’s rich and varied career living and working in many countries. Kassar comments “Living and working in many countries has influenced and enriched my creative process, particularly regarding its craftsmanship, skills perfected over centuries.”


Inside Kassar’s universe for 5VIE Design Week, visitors will find hand painted wallpapers incorporating the designer’s artistic hand, bold acrylic trays, fabric upholstered lighting and an extravagant collection of vinyl cushions. Punctuated with Middle Eastern influences throughout, guests will be able to explore Kassar’s contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Liwan, quilts with inspirational bold patterns and mirrored tables which nod to the area’s detailed coffee tables.
