Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 2:30 pm to 7 pm, in the middle of Milan Design Week and in the heart of one of the most visited districts of the Fuori Salone, 5 Vie, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala presents Accademia Teatro at La Scala: a journey behind the scenes. Performances and open sessions, a truly special day to guide the public to discover not only its extensive educational offerings, but also the professions that make the creation of a performance possible. In addition, at 5:30 p.m. (with repeats at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.) some of the students of the Ballet School participate in the project that the multifaceted designer Sara Ricciardi has created for 5Vie, Human Mandala, with a choreography signed by Emanuela Tagliavia.

The program of the day is particularly intense. Each of the 4 departments in in which the Academy's educational proposal is divided - Music, Dance, Stage-Laboratories and Management - in the classrooms and, outdoors, in the courtyard of the venue, will present various activities that will offer a taste of the dynamic world of the stage and behind the scenes: open classes, photo sets, demonstrations and live performances. The journey of discovery into the multiple professions of the performing arts will thus provide a firsthand understanding of how one works to realize an opera and ballet production.

Several open classes: from opera singers, engaged in a lesson in art scenic art with Marina Bianchi to stage managers who will work on the musical scores of an opera such as Carmen after analyzing its stage dynamics. The Hairdresser's Course and the first-level academic diploma in ballet with a technical technical-didactic will open the doors of their classrooms: the public will be able to get up close and personal with the special technique of making a wig or grasp the secrets of a dance class, taught by Amelia Colombini. If the Theater Tailoring Course will illustrate the process of dressing an an eighteenth-century-style performer, the courtyard will be enlivened by the demonstrations of the Special Make-up Courses and for Hair and Make-up artist: you will thus be able to witness live the creation of both the makeup effects necessary for the characterization of a character as well as of theatrical makeup always in the eighteenth-century style.

The models of such demonstrations will be the subject of photo shoots in the set curated by the students of the Photo, Video and New Media Course.

The listed activities will be flanked by presentations of all courses so that people interested in learning about the Academy's educational offerings can meet the educational coordinators and interact with them. So, there will also be no shortage of presentations of pathways such as the Master's Degree in Performing Arts Management with the participation of alumni who will give testimony of the brilliant career they have undertaken or of the Propaedeutic Course for Students Singers of the Children's Choir, as well as those of the courses in Sound Technology, for Lighting designers and, for dance, the Master's Course in Ballet and Contemporary Dance and Dance Propaedeutics.
