Via Santa Marta, 21
In the vibrant heart of the 5 Vie District, among Milan's historic
neighborhoods, Piazza Mentana 10 hosts A Collective Embrace, a
captivating exhibition that brings together the elegance of Chinese
furniture pieces from the Qing Dynasty period with European design and
paintings from the post-war era.
A collective exhibition that
celebrates the fusion of different cultures and styles, telling stories
of tradition and innovation. A visual journey through distant times and
places, spanning from the mid-1600s to the end of the Qing Dynasty
(1912), and moving to Europe in the early 1960s. In A Collective
Embrace, each object, element, and artwork serves as a bridge between
worlds that may seem distant.
A collection of furniture and objects
blends in a dialogue between materials, craftsmanship, and art. Venini
vases designed by Carlo Scarpa, elegant silver objects crafted by the
historic Genazzi workshop, paintings by Hsiao Chin, Giuseppe Spagnulo,
and creations by Umberto Mariani, a prominent figure of Italian abstract
and conceptual art, are just a few of the prestigious names on display.
A
Collective Embrace is not only an unmissable event for art and design
enthusiasts but a unique experience for those curious to explore the
dialogue between Chinese and European cultural heritage.
The entire
exhibition takes place in a space that combines the minimalist aesthetic
of a New York "white box" with stylistic references to early
20th-century Italian design: the Palladian-style floor and the
"Pontiano" style handles create an atmosphere that blends modernity and
tradition, fully embodying the Milanese spirit.
