Title: When 18th & 19th Century Furniture Meets Design and Contemporary Craft
French association Hauts Reliefs offers an alternative to the massive destruction of antique furniture: transforming the existing rather than producing anew. This initiative is part of a broader approach to heritage preservation, highlighting history and artisanal techniques alongside contemporary creation, transmitting know-how and promoting a circular economy.
The association presents its first collection of upcycled furniture in Milano.
Six Manifest pieces to enhance heritage, based on dialogue between designers - Paul Bonlarron, Cheeri (graphic design studio), Dominique Picquier and Régis Protière - and craftsmen - Nathalie Moschetti, stained-glass artist; Claire Curot, master gilder; Clément Loustau, cabinetmaker; Zoé Berthet and Amélie Logeais, upholsterers-decorators -.
The creations:
- A Louis XVI (1754-1793) secretaire transformed into an enigmatic piece
- 18th and 19th century gilded wood and stucco mirrors incorporating stained glass art
- A Louis XVI (1754-1793) coiffeuse turned into a bar cabinet
- A 19th century chairs with reimagined seating
- A 19th century armchair transformed into a sofa
- A 19th century games table reinvented
Founded in 2025 by Pauline Deschamps, Hauts Reliefs was born from the desire to preserve furniture heritage by giving it new narrative, aesthetic and emotional power.
