Veronese x Bruno Moinard: A New Chapter in the Story of the Rezzonico
Since the 1930s, Veronese has been driven by the curiosity and desire to bring different worlds together, such as French design know-how with Murano glass craftsmanship. The latest addition to the French design house’s rich catalogue, Lido by Bruno Moinard, is no exception.
The Lido takes its inspiration from the Rezzonico style - a technique conceived in the 18th century by one of Murano’s most renowned chandelier producers, Giuseppe Briati. The glass maker originally created the chandelier for the palace of one of the Venetian noble families, the Rezzonico family. Since, the Rezzonico style has become synonymous with classic Murano design and is a source of great design inspiration.
Through the collaboration with Bruno Moinard, Veronese brings to light a new perspective on the Rezzonico style, “by taking a Murano glass element and turning it into something poetic, introducing a new design vocabulary", as Veronese creative director, Ruben Jochimek, further explains.
The idea behind this project arose during Moinard’s visit to Veronese’s new Paris showroom, where an interesting detail of the Rezzonico inspired chandelier, the Sophia, drew his attention. It was the iconic Bosette - the numerous glass blown pieces decorating the multiple arms of the Sophia and which have adorned these chandeliers since the 18th century – that intrigued him. Fascinated by the beauty of these details, its marvel and its infinite possibilities.
This
new design brings a completely pure and delicate, yet versatile design
vernacular to the old world Rezzonico style. It presents a whole new
set of infinite design possibilities to meet the desires of many.
